Komen Northwest NC is proud to recognize Kelly Cason as our 2016 Sharon Hutchens Survivor of the Year. Kelly began educating co-workers and friends on the importance of early detection as a member of the Susan G. Komen Northwest NC committee at PepsiCo. She had no idea that she would be fighting her own battle with breast cancer five years later. Since her diagnosis, Kelly tackled her treatments with a positive attitude, determination, and humor. As a co-chair on the Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center Patient Advisory Council, Kelly has assisted in implementing many new ideas to improve the patient experience in the Cancer Center.

Kelly is a two-time Komen Northwest NC Face of Breast Cancer. In this role, Kelly serves as a local breast cancer ambassador in her community. Kelly educates the members of our community on knowing your normal, getting regular mammograms and the importance of Komen’s breast cancer research programs. Kelly truly believes that Komen research saved her life. Kelly is an incredible motivator and inspiration and we are proud to call her the 2016 Sharon Hutchens Survivor of the Year!
